Restored By Dawn (Poem)

The glass sits empty as the darkness creeps in,
Drowning my sorrow in whiskey and gin,
A hollow defeat where I never can win.

Wired on the Vyvanse, mind racing ahead,
Chasing the bottle while trapped in my head,
No rest to be found in a sleepless, cold bed.

I slipped in the haze and I made my mistake,
Careless with choices in all that I break,
Certain I shattered our bond in my wake.

Yet morning arrives and you quietly stay,
Washing the wreckage and sorrow away,
Still choosing to love me at the end of the day.
