The biggest disappointment of my life was my uncle cutting ties with our family; he was close to my age and my best friend. For a long time, he was the only person I never hated—someone who stayed by my side because he *wanted* to. He made a point of being close to me; he was the one person I felt I could tell anything to. Then, out of nowhere, it all ended. His mother cheated on my grandfather, and he began to hate his own father. I didn't understand why André hated my grandfather, but he decided to leave with his mother and cut ties with everyone... That’s where the shit hit the fan; that’s when my dependency issues began. I’ll never forget his words: "This isn't my family; it's *your* family. We don't share the same blood." That hurt—it hurt deeply—and I watched as my best friend was hated and verbally abused by my entire family while I said nothing. It still happens to this day, but I can't hate him, and I can't blame him. Our family was conservative but also violent, exposing us to gore and the chaos of violence at a very young age. In a desperate attempt to fill the void he left behind... I met *him*—DLV—the guy who ended up destroying my mental health.
