Shifting Fate -Tessa Hale

I just finished Tessa Hale's "Shifting Fate" series on kindle. It was actually pretty good tbh, I feel like any type of "shifter" stories are 50/50. Like they can either be really good or humoungously badly written. But this was actually pretty decent. The whole stereotypical "main character is a really powerful shifter with a previously thought extinct power, raised in the depths of poverty" was oversold though.. I want the main character for once to not be abused and bullied, why cant they just be a well liked individual that comes from, not a white collar family, but they get by with a little extra money to spare? Like why can't the story just follow the character on their just living their life that they enjoy, they have a steady job, donates to charity, is well liked by a majority of their community, isn't concerned about their dating life at all. Like where are those fantasy stories???
