serbian's have a very... odd mentality to say the least. describing it as a victim complex feels accurate, but it also seems too shallow in a way. serbians have been taught that they were the only ones that experienced hardships in the balkans, that they are the perfect victim and that the neighboring countries are this "evil" force seeing to put an end to the serbian people. i believe its that propaganda that has made almost everyone in this country neo-nationalists.
however, propaganda as easy it is to be fooled by it, it is also easy to unlearn it by simply studying and questioning what information you're being fed. the reason im making this blog is because the right-wingers in my country (aka serbia) have officially made a war criminal by the name ratko mladic the face of serbia.Â
they gave him a ceremonial burial, and many have expressed their love and support for him. to me, this is downright insane. he was a genocidal maniac killing innocent bosnians for absolutely no reason under the guise that he was "protecting" the serbian people. serbians know this, and yet they take pride in the crimes he did.
with that, my countries mentality is just so.. strange. why is it okay to honor a war criminal just because he "protected" your people? he didnt even do anything, all he did was kill innocent bosnian children.
