sonder is a wonderful thing

hello my dear internet friends!! i was absent for a while as i was busy having fun :P

anyway to stick to the main topic of this blog post, sonder is a beautiful thing to feel and i honestly love it when it strikes me dead in a random moment in time.

so for context, i just had my Debs (which is prom over here in Ireland) and i had so much fun!! everyone looked so cute and pretty. we were going to this luxury hotel down the country so we had a very fun bus trip too. lots of familiar faces from my 5 years in school, it felt like proper closure.
i went all-out goth with modern trad makeup and a gorgeous skirt with an off shoulder top (all put together by random pieces i had at home). so many girls (and lads too) complimented my style!! they said it was so refreshing to see someone stick out and fight against the standard shein dress + fake tan body spray. I feel so confident in myself now. The girls said it was MY style, and that it suited me like no other, and trust me i have branched out before.

we had dinner (steak, mash spuds, veg) and dessert too :3
after that we were allll escorted into the nightclub below the hotel (yes below the hotel). the DJ played so many classics that i have on repeat rn as i type this, main I'm Not Alone by Calvin Harris and Still Sleepless by D.O.D ft. Carla Monroe. he even played Cha Cha Slide, the Macarena, Saturday Night, House Every Weekend, WAP, so many hits that had us all screaming when we recognised them!!
we partied HARD from 10pm til 3 in the morning.

then they gave us breakfast at 3 too :3 toast, tea, beans, sausages and bacon steaks too omg. never felt so good to taste food after dancing so hard.

the moment of sonder was when everyone was on the dancefloor just vibing, tipsy and smiling. we were all practically bar hopping in the hotel.

i was taking a moment to drink my 4th vodka cranberry of the night when i felt it. we were young and free. some of us had plans to become nurses. some wanted to head straight into the workforce. some wished to become mothers. some had parents pass before the night. some had plans to leave the country to pursue their higher education.

this was the last night all of us would be together dancing in that small smoke-filled room without a care in the world. i felt myself almost crying but i just smiled and hopped into the floor as Fireball came on lmao (FIREBAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLL)

i'll miss the drunk girls in the bathroom telling me their own lore or gossip. i'll miss talking to the girls on the hotel rooftops about tats and nails with cigarettes in our hands. i'll miss that night heavily. i still am right now, thinking about it. the music isn't helping but i'm smiling i guess.

it was a bittersweet goodbye i suppose. everyone having fun and laughing and just... a proper end.
to think i was planning on not GOING. :0

... and i honestly believe Mayo winning made everyones mood even better for the night lmao

(for the non-irish, our counties essentially battle it out in our own "superbowl" called the All-Ireland. theres one for hurling and Gaelic football. basically county Mayo last won the all-ireland football back in 1951 and havent won since bcus SUPPOSEDLY a priest cursed that team to never win again because they "disrupted a funeral" as they drove by it. now, it had been 75 years since they last won it, and that curse was broken last Sunday (july 26th) as they bet county Kerry. the entire country is celebrating it and Mayo is in tears. like, so many people are crying joy. even the commentators. i found out they won because the entire bus was screaming lol. im still deaf :P )
