with how my state is set up with school im just now going into 7th grade, so jr high/middle school.
does anyone have any tips? im terrified, im gonna get bullied so hard.
i dress scenecore/alt-ish, i have my ESSA by me 24/7 and wear a tail sometimes, we just went to the open house and i got laughed at by some of the kids, 3 others complimented me.
ive been told im gonna find my people but i dont believe them, i saw barely anyone like me and im scared ill be everyones fun little punching bag.
i have some 8th grade friends and my bff will be in half my classes plus my lunch period.
and yes ik its weird asking for school tips and tricks and stuff but im just so scared, school starts tomoroww. Do i change everything about myself to not be bullied? do i actually be myself and hope for the best or do i just be silent and sit at the back watching everything?
im also a MEGA loser. on the first day im wearing a hazbin hotel shirt which gets alot of hate and i will probably be called a slur. BACK ON THE LOSER STUFF: i have barely any friends, the marker on my thighs and wrists wont wash off so now it looks like actual cuts, im a therian and an otherpaw AND a furry. my haircut just kinda sucks, i talk all the time, i think im funny (my friend says i am too) which im not really, im just annoying.
im dead, this school will eat me ALIVE

The truth is, if someone is bullying you for expressing yourself in a certain way, they're projecting. Those people see someone else expressing themselves without any issues and then they get pissed off and start projecting their insecurities onto you. You should be able to express yourself without fear of getting bullied by some of your jackass peers but unfortunately we live in a world where something like that isn't very common.
So, to answer your question if whether you should confirm to your peers standards to prevent from getting bullied or to express yourself in the way that you like.. The answer is to be yourself, yes middle schoolers can be a pain in the ass especially since they're going through puberty (saying that as an eighth grader). But you shouldn't have to confirm to your peers societal standards in order to prevent from getting bullied. I don't exactly know if this would help but if someone is calling you slurs over a shirt go tell an adult, whether if it's a teacher or your parents. But sometimes if that doesn't help, as a last resort you should handle the bullying YOURSELF.
Also, NO you should not stay silent and just sit around watching. That's how bullying goes unnoticed, is when the person is too afraid to speak up so they just sit around watching themselves get made fun of by a bunch of kids with no empathy and full of prejudice and hate in their hearts.
Overall, my tips would be to just ignore them because if they see that you don't care about what they say, then they're probably going to leave you alone. But if they don't leave you alone and the issue persists, you should let someone around you know about it.
I'm sorry if my tips may seem a little rusty, I've never been bullied personally but I have seen some of my peers get bullied and it's just so disappointing, bullies are so cruel. Please whatever you do, try your best to stay safe.
