Sun Rise

☮☯When I was really young, I read this thing that said we believe the sun will rise because of habit, experience. Not because we have some hard proof that nature signed a contract and promised to keep doing the same thing every morning. And that stuck with me. Because what is habit, really? Habit is the little prophet in your head. It looks backward and pretends it is looking forward. It says, “This happened yesterday, and the day before that, and every day you remember, so relax, boss, we got this.” So I guess my own reality is just my habits. The sun comes up because the sun comes up, until one day it doesn’t. I think Bertrand Russell said, "The turkey eats every morning and thinks the cosmos is benevolent, and then Thanksgiving walks in." That’s the whole thing, maybe . So no, I don’t know the sun is coming up. I expect it. I assume it. I bow to the pattern because what else am I going to do. Certainty is just habit it seems . Everything is temporary. Everything is moving. So I start there. I don’t know. I assume. I get used to things. Then I mistake getting used to things for truth. The sun will probably rise. Probably. And that “probably” is where all the wisdom lives.🏵☘
