that bad back blinkie and why doing exercises physio wants u to do is super important!

So!

was on a camp w/ a cadet group that I've since quit bc of an unrelated stuff. I had just joined the cadet group 1-2 ish months ago at the time of the camp (think this was april-may in 2023)

we were on a camp that involved an activity where we built survival shelters out of stuff in the bush because the camp involved a local search and rescue group teaching us stuff

I found a massive punga log that'd fallen, so it was fair pickings for my group's survival shelter. Keep in mind that by massive, I mean the width of a dinner plate but possibly three times as long as I was tall at the time (~155cm?don't really remember). I go to carry the log over to where my group is making their survival shelter, which is a bit of a distance (not too far but not too close) and for visualisation, the log n my back r kinda like ./

later that night after the activity when we're doing evening activities, I go to the camp medical officer like "hey uhh so my back's gotten sore I think I did something to it" n I got either ibproufen or paracetamol

cut to a week or more later, I've had two drs appts. One of them ended up in a perscription for a week's worth of ibproufen and I think the other was lodging an acc claim, which meant that if I wanted to take care of my back through physio or massage or what have you i'd pay a discounted rate. In one of the drs appts I think it got narrowed down to a lower back issue that may have pinched a nerve???

Suprise surprise, I decided to go to physio! There were several appointments and a wheatbag bought in which the issue was narrowed down to a lumbar sprain (the pinched nerve part may have been here bc it felt odd when I was lying on my back n I was lifting one of my legs n I told the physio abt it). Also important to note that I was given exercises to do certain ammounts of at certain times of the day. I barely did these because I was (n kinda still am) a lazy bum. The physio noticed n was like "hey you aren't actually doing ur exercises so i'm not gonna book u another appt" n I was like "yeah ok" then started attempting to regulate what I lift and the way I lift stuff (cus I didn't lift w/ my knees). cut to a few years later I'm nearly a legal adult, the back pain is starting to get a bit worse again and shrimp posture or leaning towards like that is actually painful n Not Fun At All

So do your physio kids! having old person issues in your teens isn't a cool thing n bags with hip buckles are very amazing
