The cycle of giving and grieving what once was
your body is the vessel for all that changes
i wait for people like the ocean waits for the moon
giving her the signal to change tide
to move on, lapping at the rocks that frame the shore and the feet of passersby
in a desperate, longing manner
you change and grow
you prosper like a crooked plant
unwilling to give in
rebellion and vengeance fuel your motivation to thrive
yet there is barely motivation to live.
compared to you
i am stagnant
the seasons change
the tide rolls up and down the shore
life is so continuous here.
further along the coast, in the damp shaded forest is a statue
metal and stone, cold and dead
yet soft and fuzzy with moss.
but even moss dries up and falls away eventually
the ocean may wait for the moon
she may not be able to give to her airborne friend
but the shells she showers the beach with
are her own special gift
a gift taken for granted, but not by the children who collect them in little plastic buckets like treasures
running excitedly to show their gold
to the people they love
an eternal trust that transcends the physical plane
a world that doesn't stop spinning because of a feeling
and within it an ocean of change that keeps rocking and flowing
into rivers and canals
like blood vessels
the blood that fuels you
the blood that fuels me
the blood that i love infinitely
enjoy the contradictory-ness of this poem, it is what i do best in this sick head of mine![]()
