I sparkle in the night on my own, where no one can see the beauty I keep within me.
I want to be seen, I want to be loved. But I keep myself in the muddy rocks in the deep, where no one can find me, no one can save me.
I hide amongst the tangled seaweed, their leaves tangling in my tail and keeping me trapped below.
I swim on the banks on my lonesome and keep my distance from other fish,
their scales sparkle and shine in the water, their fins glamorous and beautiful.
Where are my lovely scales? Who picked them off from my skin?
Was it my own fault they were taken from me? Is it my own fault that they're now gone?
I want to be as beautiful as my insides, I want to flourish in the shallow water with my fellow fish.
I need to be seen, I need to be picked amongst the sea of beautiful creatures,
I am no beautiful creature, my scales stolen from long ago.
A thief left scars on my once beautiful skin, and now i'm left all alone.
How do I untangle myself from the weeds? How do I let myself be shown?
I am simply a small fish, who's beauty is never ever shown.
