The Great Bread Redemption Arc: A Loaf Story 𓍯𓂃𓏧♑

October 12th, 2026:

( ∩´͈ ᐜ `͈∩)

HELLO, AND WELCOME FELLOW BREAD ENTHUSIASTS.

Or just regular people who happen to be reading this.

As some of you may know, ya girl got a bread maker for her 33rd birthday. Since then I have made bread my entire personality.Β

I wish I was kidding.

I am not.

Just ask my husband. He will tell you how many loaves of bread he has had to ingest since his wonderful mom gifted me the queen.

Anyway, If you've been following my little bread adventures, you'll know things haven't exactly been going according to plan.

We had bread that grew so aggressively it tried to escape the machine. Bread that refused to grow at all. Bread wearing a cinnamon hat. And bread that could be used as a weapon in a home invasion.

It's been a journey.

BUT TODAY.

TODAY, MY FRIENDS.

WE HAVE ACHIEVED BREAD.

And not just any bread.

Milk bread. Soft, squishy, beautiful lil clouds of happiness for my soul.

I could cry.

My big brain idea recipe finally worked.

This will be the ONLY white bread recipe I will be making moving forward.

It is that good.

For anyone who would like to make their own fluffy lil angel loaf. Stick around and I will share the recipe with a cute little twist ☺

STEP 1: Gather Everything

critters and ingredients

Milk. Water. An egg. Softened butter. Flour. Sugar. Milk powder. Salt. Bread booster. and the most important ingredient...YEAST.

A very respectable line up.

At this point, everything looks innocent enough. No dense loaves in sight, just yet. Just a line of ingredients hoping to turn into something magical.

STEP 2: Load the Bread Pan

bread pan

First the milk, water, egg, and softened butter went into the bread pan.

Then came the bread flour, sugar, milk powder, salt and bread booster.

The yeast went in last, of course. Tucked into a little well in the flour like it's been given it's own sweet lil bed in the penthouse suite.Β

critter and yeast in pan

Very important. Very demure.

STEP 3: Check the Dough

critter checking dough

Once the machine starts kneading, I checked the dough during the first 5-10 minutes.

This is the part where I observe and try not to panic.

The dough should come together in a soft, smooth ball. If it looks too dry add a tiny splash of water. If it looks too sticky, add a little flour.

Tiny adjustments only. We are helping, not starting a war in the machine.

STEP 4: Let the Machine Do Her Thang

machine covered

After that comes the hardest part.

Waiting.

I spent a good portion of this baking session deliberately ignoring the bread.

Because if I acknowledged its existence, something goes wrong.

So I ignore her.

No hovering.

No aggressively checking the lid every three minutes.

Just me, minding my own business with a cold brew and a book. While the little machine quietly performs her bread magic.

THE REVEAL:

LOOK.

AT.

HER.

SHE IS BEAUTIFUL.

Not a sad lil pancake. Not a giant mushroom trying to escape.

A PROPER TALL LOAF.

And the texture?!

SOFT.

FLUFFY.

SQUISHYYYYYYYY.

bread cut

The kind of bread you poke repeatedly because your brain cannot comprehend how something could be this delightful.Β

My previous loaves walked so this masterpiece could RUN.

Well, actually, they barely walked. lol.

BUT THAT IS BESIDES THE POINT.

We did it!!!

The Moment You Have All Been Scrolling For - The Recipe That FINALLY Worked:

The recipe that I will only be making moving forward.

The potential holy grail.

Are you as excited as I am?

Fingers crossed (q‒́  Β Μ« ‒̀q)

MILK BREAD - 1.5 Loaf

For my Hamilton Beach bread maker

INGREDIENTS

β™₯ 3/4 cup warm milk (180 ml)

β™₯ 1/4 cup room temperature water (60 ml)

β™₯ 2 tbsp softened butter (28 g)

β™₯ 1 large egg

β™₯ 3 cups bread flour (365 g)

β™₯ 1/4 cup white sugar (50 g)

β™₯ 2 tbsp milk powder

β™₯ 1 tsp salt

β™₯ 2-1/4 tsp quick rise yeast

β™₯ 1 tbsp bread booster

brears with spilled flour

INSTRUCTIONS

β™₯ Add your milk, water, egg, and softened butter into the bread pan.

β™₯ Add the bread flour, sugar, milk powder, salt and bread booster.

β™₯ Make a little well in the flour and add your yeast last.

β™₯ Select Basic/White Bread, 1.5 loaf, and light crust.

β™₯ Let the machine do it's thing! Check the dough's consistency during the first 5-10 minutes of the kneading cycle.

β™₯ Once she's finished baking, remove from the loaf pan and allow it to cool on a metal rack for about 45-60 minutes before slicing. Or, if you're me, an old pan and two wooden utensils because I am my momma's daughter and this is just the correct way.

And there we have it!!!

Easy Japanese inspired Milk Bread by yours truly.

Final Thoughts From The Bakery

I feel like there is just something so heart warming about finally getting your dream recipe right!

Especially when that dream turned out to be a beautiful, fluffy loaf of homemade bread.

I know it's such a silly thing to get excited about, but honestly?

I can't help it. ☺

I'll keep taking my little victories where ever I can.

Anyway! Thank you for following along with my very unnecessary, ridiculously long, unofficial scrapbook recipe blog.

I hope you learned a little something new along the way, and maybe get inspired to bake your own fluffy and beautiful loaf.Β

And if you, too, find yourself becoming emotionally attached to a loaf of bread, I think we can safely consider this the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

We clearly have a loaf in common.

Anywhooo, enough about bread related nonsense from me for one day.

Until the next adventure,
