Bonjour mes amis ☺♥
Hello again, my little bread enthusiasts!!!
Owning a bread maker has made me decide that I now have to make every possible variation of bread known to mankind.
And honestly? I ain't even mad about it.
This week's little adventure is MATCHA BREAD.
I wanted something a little sweeter this time. Not dessert level sweet, but something soft, fluffy, and delicious enough that I could cut myself a slice and enjoy it right then and there.
A lil matcha cloud, if you will.
Absolutely groundbreaking stuff happening within my household.

FIRST THINGS FIRST, THE BREAD:
ingredients
Look at all our little ingredients!!!
Nothing too crazy here. Just our usual bread making brigade with the little addition of some matcha.
I won't lie, but laying all my ingredients out makes me feel like I have my shit together. Which is hilarious, because we all know how my previous bread adventures have gone.
ANYWHOOOO.

MAKING HER BEAUTIFUL:

flour n matcha
First thing I did was add my matcha to the flour.
And give everything a nice little mix!
shrek flour
I absolutely love this colour! There is something so satisfying about watching plain ol' flour turn into this pretty green powder.
At this point, I was feeling pretty confident.
Which, historically, means absolutely nothing.

INTO THE BREAD MAKER:
in the maker
Everything went into my beloved bread maker, and it was officially out of my hands.
Godspeed, my lil green loaf.

maker setting

For this recipe, I used the Sweet Bread setting, 1.5 lb loaf size, and light crust.

I honestly love how this machine does almost everything for me. I just dump in the right order, press some buttons, and hover over it like a concerned parent.

mixed dough

Here is our little dough baby about 10 minutes into mixing!

She looks pretty good, right?!

This is the part where I question everything.

Is she too wet? Too dry? Should I add flour? Should I mind my own business?

Thankfully, the answer this time was to mind my own business.

And since we had a couple hours of waiting in front of us...

INTERMISSION:

~Please enjoy this regularly scheduled tea break~

hojicha ingre

milk n hoji

hoji

Because apparently making one green thing in the kitchen wasn't enough for me in one day.

While our little matcha loaf was doing her thing, I decided to make Honey Milk Hojichas!

If you've never had hojicha before, it's a roasted Japanese green tea with this heavenly toasty, nutty flavour. It's a little different from regular matcha, but OH MAH GAWD, is it ever good!

And with some honey and milk?!

HEAVEN.

(is that you god? It's me Kaylvang)

I feel like I am running my own cafe.

Except the cafe is my kitchen, I'm wearing questionable outfits, and the only customers are myself and my husband.

Five stars. Excellent establishment.

Anyways. Back to our regular scheduled program.

THE FINAL LOAF:
the loaf
And here she is!!!
A sweet little matcha loaf!
Soft, cute, and thankfully not trying to fight the machine or become a weapon.
This loaf turned out perfectly.
Honestly? She's just a lil guy. And I support her fully.

THE MATCHA CLOUD RECIPE:

For anyone who wants to try making their own little matcha loaf, here's the recipe I used!

Ingredients:

230 mL milk

350 g bread flour

75 g sugar

7 g matcha powder (approximately 3½ tsp)

2 tbsp milk powder

2 tbsp softened butter

¾ tsp salt

1½ tsp Fleischmann's Quick Rise yeast

2 tsp Fleischmann's Bread Booster

Bread maker settings:

Sweet Bread

1.5 lb loaf

Light crust

Instructions:

Measure out your ingredients. I like weighing my flour because apparently I am a professional baker now.

Mix the matcha powder into your bread flour until everything is evenly green.

Add your ingredients to the bread maker according to your machine's recommended order, keeping the yeast separate from the liquid until mixing begins.

Select the Sweet Bread setting, 1.5 lb loaf size, and Light crust.

Check your dough about 10–15 minutes into mixing. You're looking for a soft dough that's coming together nicely.

Let your bread maker work its magic!

Once finished, remove your loaf and let it cool on a rack before slicing.

A little note for next time: I'm planning to increase the yeast to 2 teaspoons to see if we can get a little more height. Everything else is staying the same because the flavour and texture were exactly what I wanted!

UNTIL OUR NEXT LIL KITCHEN ADVENTURE:

And there we have it!

Another wonderful afternoon spent making bread, drinking tea, and becoming a little too emotionally invested in another fluffy loaf of carbohydrates.

I just love these baking days.

It's just so nice making something yummy, having a lil drink and just enjoy being home.

Plus, now I have homemade matcha bread to snack on.

AND THAT IS A WIN IN MY BOOK!!

Thank you for joining me on another episode of whatever the heck I am trying to do in my kitchen.

Until next time, my little bread friend!
