This new generation not being able to read is a huge problem for the future. Yeah it may be ridiculous, but its concerning. We have a way bigger issue on our hands if 10 year old cannot sound out a word.
The educating system in america as decreased in a expeditious rate. Teachers are quitting from left to right, college and high school students are graduating with a 2.0 GPA. What has happened to educating the people properly.
Its not the kids fault that they can't read or sound out word properly, look at the society were living in now, everything is tech. You don't need to learn how to read when a device can do everything for you. Like AI as an example, the amount of kids that i see relying on that crap is insane. Also take a look at what entertainment they're consuming. Brain rot, grwm, kid shows that doesn't teach you anything, just slop.
It also infuriates me that the parents of these children doesn't teach them. A job of a teacher is to teach your kid, not raise them. That's your damn job. And these kids don't go outside, or have any type of human interaction.
For the people who are in their teenage years know that back then our parents used to make us go outside and interact with the world and the people in it. And it wasn't a chore to read or touch up on your learning skills, it was just fun.
These kids will not have any type of future for jobs or just in life in general if they can't comprehend certain things.
And not to brag or anything, but i have two little siblings, my brother whose 3 and my little sister whose 2. and my baby brother can already read, and my baby sister is already talking. So there is no damn excuse for these parents at all.
Take the damn tablet away from them and give them a book, a coloring book, or take them outside. This is just sad.
Let me know in the comments if you agree or have different views. I'm open to all perspectives if they arent rude.

I don't live in America but it's scary how some parents refuse to raise their children properly and force the teachers to deal with them. Teachers aren't supposed to be a second parent to children, they're there to educate them. An iPad can never be a replacement for decent parenting, it just shows how much of a shitty parent you are. I may not be a mother myself, but teaching a child basic manners and interactions isn't hard at all, some people are just lazy nowadays.
(Ironic for me to say this, considering I'm not even an adult yet)
I'm not even an adult and i agree with you. Its sad that teenagers are pointing this out and the adults arent doing anything. People have gotten lazy, i hate to say this but the millennial's arent making it easy for us and the new gen to grow up properly. We always have to clean up where they didn't want to.

Unfortunately adults will never take us seriously and we end up being on our own. They see us as "too young" to form opinions and they laugh it off.

One of my fav teachers would tell me all the time how her kids each year have more and more problems and she retired this year 💔
Thats sad to hear. Teachers shouldn't be forced to quit because kids refuse to listen or learn any of the material. america and the parents of those children need to do better.
I hope she finds passion in teaching again soon
