the niche wars

I feel like everyone is trying to be niche and it's starting to backfire horribly because instead of trying to actually find something you enjoy everyone is just trend hopping or you're just called a larp even if you've been doing that or apart of that fandom before it gained traction online. Some people just aren't niche and that's ok and people have to accept that instead of just pretending to be into something because it's popular, take for example Monster High, they only know the main 6 and glaze Draculaura then say they are obsessed with it. Like you didn't even know Monster High existed until like two weeks ago and put no effort into actually learning the lore but because it is now a micro-trend on TikTok you're suddenly into  it.

 Everyone just wants to be unique and not like everyone else even if they have the personality of a wet paper towel, if you are boring and have no genuine interest in anything niche don't act like you do because it is actually exhausting wanting to interact with a fandom and it is all popular kids wanting to be different instead of people with passion for it. 

If you ARE niche you're either called a larp or you're surrounded with larps that are just wanting to be different instead of actually getting joy out of it and put zero effort in. I do recognise it's selfish of me to want all larpers to leave a fandom, I can't control what people do but I hope they do realise they are doing more harm than good by willingly taking up room in a fandom for ACTUAL fans.

Now, I want to clarify, there is a difference between a larper and someone new to the fandom. Sometimes, new comers to the fandom are called larpers but to actually be a fandom you need to be invested in whatever topic or fandom you're joining and put effort in you don't need to learn 100% of everything about it all at once I've been in the Monster High fandom for about 2 years now and I know a lot about the lore but I am still learning because I have a genuine passion for it. The difference between a larper and someone new to the fandom is that a larper will not invest time or interest in the fandom below the bare minimum and only joined for the reason to say they are niche or different than others. A new comer however, finds joy in the fandom, has a genuine interest and tries to learn the lore at their own pace.
