To my lovely friend, Alanna Gonzalez. You might find it strange that I look up to you so much. I don't find it strange. When an angel appears, where else would she be but up in the light? You give me sight into what it means to truly feel loved in a friendship, instead of just chasing after spirits whose love could be seen but never felt by me. I used your name in class this week. The question was "Cómo es tu mejor amiga?" I said "Alanna es muy bonita y amable! Ella es una reina, con un corazón bueno." But, you may never know what you are to me, perhaps the way an angel might forget they have wings.
This poem is for you, Alannita:
The girl who didn't make me say anything is the one with angel wings
She is the girl with the pink shirt who I wanted to look like
someday
She is the girl whose pretty face I knew I'd miss after every May
And not once did she ever make me say a thing
And not once did I ever doubt she has angel wings
She is the girl who I cried for all through the winter
She is the girl who makes me miserable because we never see
each other
And not once did she ever make me say a thing
And not once did I ever doubt she has angel wings
She was the girl who to I was afraid say how much I've fallen apart
But I guess I forgot how much her love pours out her porcelain
heart
And not once did she ever make me say a thing
And not once did I ever doubt she has angel wings
The one who you knew you'd see every single day
The one whose laugh you struggled to remember after every
May
The one who didn't make you say anything is the one with angel
wings
