I moved out 2 years ago for college. I don't think people talk enough how much it fucks with your perception of belonging.
I stopped feeling at home in my hometown in the summer when I realized how much I'm missing during the year. Stuff like how the streets or parks have changed. How lost I actually feel when I'm out with my bf and he knows this city better than me nowadays. It's like I'm a tourist at home. Every time I'm here, I can't wait for the moment I go back because I grew this place.
When I'm at uni, I can't wait for the time I go back home. A city full of people like me, who came from all regions possible and everyone mixes their accents. It's a city that feels like a safe space because I've chosen it, but there's also an itch that feels foreign.
