The Rise Of Skinny

TW: ED Mention!

I’ve been seeing a lot of celebrities recently becoming thinner and thinner. It’s terrifying, honestly. They’re not skinny in the natural way, but in the way that their bones are protruding out their skin. Ariana Grande, Jenna Ortega, countless of others. Even in kpop, trainees are starved and forced to stay thin as hell.

And this is getting transferred all over the world. Kids are seeing this, teens are seeing this, adults are seeing this. It’s not just a trend, it’s a lifestyle.

EDs are not aesthetic. This should not be normalized. People should not look on YouTube and see a creator who is ultra thin talking about using ozempic and throwing up, starving themselves. Minors should not be exposed to this, we should not be persuaded by this.

It’s like the 2000s, where a bunch of people were skinny and starved to fit in. These idealistic body types are not normal, they are a result of conformity in beauty standards. We cannot accept them.

Whether you’re fat, skinny, chubby, and even if you have EDs, you are VALID! You don’t have to worry about how you look, if a bathing suit makes you look fat or ugly. Beauty is subjective, it is different to every eye.

Focus on your own eyes, stop looking at your body with everyone else’s perspective, and instead love yourself. You are stuck with it until you’re not.

omg I'm so glad that someone else is mentioning this. I see multiple weight loss and Ozempic or any other glp-1 medication commercials and it really pisses me off as someone who has body issues starting from the 6th grade. Also, people are promoting EDs and unhealthy diets like crazy on TikTok, even at one point when I was on there someone asked "so you think that kids should have eating disorders if it'll make them skinny?" and the other person said yes. People are actually so mean and unnaccepting nowadays it's insane.
