"There's a splinter in your eye and it reads 'react"..." (09/06/2026)

...learned today that my sense in fashion has been dealt irrecoverable damage via incessant rewatches of The Sopranos. Supposedly bowling shirts and khakis do not pass as "formal clothing" in most cultures. But they should! Say what you will about Tony Soprano or Johnny Sack but man they had that shit on!!

...otherwise not much else of note. I've been enjoying the quiet so far but at this point it has become a little too quiet. I get the feeling something big will happen soon. Really, the only thing I can write about right now is that it's been raining a lot recently. And also it's cold. Which came as a shock, considering just a couple weeks ago it was super hot.

...I started another GTA IV playthrough. One of the best "autumn" games in my opinion. When the weather starts to get a bit muggy I turn to this one. It's a bit controversial (and I swear V fans are intentionally being contrarians about this game but you didn't hear that from me) but I really, really love it. Not as much as I love Saints Row 2 (which I think is the better of the two open-world crime games that came out in 2008), but close enough.

...listening now: "Reckoning" by R.E.M.. This is one of those classic albums that everyone needs to listen to. Not my first rodeo with this one, but it felt worth revisiting today, for whatever reason. Here, R.E.M. have a more developed sound than Murmur but at the same time I do feel like the deep south wanderlust of that record gets a bit compromised here. Nevertheless it's nothing but hits from beginning to end (despite Stephen Malkmus's hatred of "Camera", as documented in that one Pavement song).
