"There's no one to know, there's nothing to do..." (09/23/2026)

...update on the bee "infestation", for lack of better phrasing: today I found like nine bees. Eight of them were gathered next to the skylight and one was attempting to phase through my bedroom window. I still have absolutely no clue as to where they're coming from, or why there are so many of them. I doubt there's a beehive, like, right next to my house or something. That'd be pretty stupid, plus I'd probably know about it.

...yesterday I was so exhausted from working that I could barely sleep. I hate when that happens. I'm trying to sleep and yet my brain won't shut the hell up. Spent like eight hours working on a stupid type poster and after it was over I felt like I wanted to go to sleep for like a year. On the plus side, Advil's apparently a really good sleep aid, if you feel like slowly mutilating your liver (or something to that effect).

...meanwhile, today's just a day of waiting around and trying to find ways to occupy myself. It's a lot better than staring at a computer monitor without a break for hours on end, but it's a lot more boring too. Maybe I'll finally work on that video idea I wrote about a few posts back. I meant to do it after I wrote that post, but then immediately forgot about it. Sometimes my memory is like that of a goldfish.

...now listening: "Emergency & I" by The Dismemberment Plan. This is where the Plan really came into their own. I feel like their three previous releases had a lot of moments that were too immature for my tastes (...Is Terrified has like 4 songs where Travis Morrison does a funny voice and that's it that's the joke please laugh). Meanwhile on this record they write and play with conviction and heartbreak; see the tragic "The City" or perhaps "Spider in the Snow" for great examples. Unlike Pitchfork, I don't think it's the best record of 1999 ("California" by Mr. Bungle takes that crown), and that's due to the godawful "Girl O'Clock". If they removed that and replaced it with "Just Like You" or "Since You Died" (two B-sides), it would've been a perfect record.
