thought crimes aren’t real you fucking oddball

this isn’t really targeted but I’ve seen a lot of people try to be sooo holier-than-thou about what is ‘moral’ and ‘immoral’ to the point that you’re all twisted and stupid and not actually woke at all. I’m talking as someone who just got slapped out of the worst morality ocd known to man so trust me on this. i was morality ocd ceo (admittedly in a more logical way).

thought crimes are not real. thoughts cannot hurt anyone. if you think that someone is worse than another for having a THOUGHT, you are an idiot. Thoughts are completely uncontrolled, it’s what happens after a person has that thought that matters. If a pedophilic thought came up in someone’s head, they aren’t evil for that thought; they’re evil for not correcting that thought.

I have had thoughts about beating people up, about torturing people, about being the most evil people can be, and I don’t think that makes me evil. Because even if I wasn’t disordered, those would still just be thoughts. I haven’t tortured or raped or screamed at people because I understand those thoughts are fucking ABHORRENT. And no, thoughts usually do not show what you ‘actually want to do’. That belief is harmful towards people with OCD, like myself. We have terrible thoughts that we do not agree with. I do not WANT to do the things I think about. It’s the complete opposite of ‘secretly wanting to do it’; it’s moreso that my brain is so concerned about the idea of those things, that it looks for them, and turns back on itself.

And also, this is mostly seperate from my homicidal/suicidal ideation. That isn’t because of OCD that’s because of some other disorder I have. Still, thought crimes don’t exist.
