thoughts on Myspace's possible relaunch & its impact

So, there have been recent articles on the creators of Myspace having an interest to relaunch the website as said in the "Myspace" documentary. it was said attempts to rebuild the website into a modern look just wasn't "the same", which implies the relaunch would come with a similar look it had before its current modernization. though there is no planned timeline as they're waiting for the "right time" to relaunch, this really had me thinking a lot about what impact this would have on the few popular websites trying to mimic Myspace just like this, spacehey, and napochan, and the state of social media.

First off, i think hearing this is such a major indicator of the developing interest in personalization & customization for social media, the lack of algorithms, and the 2000s internet, that seems to be getting wider in recent years. It's even more major considering the website had shifted itself multiple times to look modern, yet the creators themselves want to deconstruct that for the sake of bringing it back. If Myspace were to relaunch, i think it could popularize these interests for the internet & social media (even more), thus these interests could reach to the broader social media industry as a sign that many people are exhausted with the current, stagnant state of social media to the social media industry that actively continues to exhaust itself. I have the slightest hope that Myspace's new existence being similar to the old internet could inspire more creativity or distinct identities for other social medias.

But like also, this kind of makes me wonder what would happen to the websites that are based on mimicking (the old) Myspace if it would come back? I wouldn't necessarily say these sites would get in legal trouble... at least i hope so ^^' But i also really wonder about Myspace impacting the current userbases. Like, would most people just move to Myspace? I would say many people probably would try to move there because i mean, after-all Myspace is the original, and you could argue its more established enough to have a bigger userbase than its imitators--which many people on websites like these want for a social media they're on (hence many spacehey users moving to friendrewind). 

The thing is that i also wonder about the age groups. Many older (30-40 year olds) adults come to these mimic/heavily inspired websites to re-experience Myspace while the teens and young adults come here to simulate the 2000s internet (or well, have some distance with modern social media), so i would assume that much of the older folks would be motivated to move to Myspace more. I mean like, what's a better way to re-experience Myspace than being on the platform itself, especially when the site is more likely to draw in more older adults that experienced the website too. And the younger people would...? maybe also probably move to Myspace due to it having more potential to be popular?

There have been conversations about the age groups on here and other similar websites (like spacehey) skewing too young for many older adults. While i would assume that Myspace's relaunch would shift the age groups on the inspired websites to be less drastic instead of so diverse to cause some issues or discomfort, i dont think i'm all that sure. I think this concern might still exist on Myspace's relaunch, which feels a little awkward but is something that seems like would happen--since i'd say young adults & teens and older adults would be (almost equally) drawn to Myspace for different reasons. i also have the idea that some of the creators of these mimic websites may think about shifting its marketing to have more of their own identity than being a website just inspired by Myspace, or at worst... shut down. both are a little sad in its own ways... but only one of these fates is a metaphoric death while the other would be more sad considering the effort it takes to maintain these kind of websites.

i am wondering and wondering to be wondering. i do think maybe by the time Myspace would relaunch, it would be during a time when these mimic websites would already have its own fates sealed enough that Myspace's new existence wouldn't have too much of an affect on the inspired websites anymore (ex: like, spacehey is already kind of dying (rip)). i also know some users come to these Myspace inspired websites to lessen their addiction to social media... so i guess Myspace would basically be gluten crack for all the people addicted to social media, due to its lack of algorithm.
