I'm visiting Mary J. thinking about how time is funny, but not funny in the way you laugh with it. Funny in the way it laughs at you. It knows it has all the power. It knows how long you have even when you don't.
Have you ever had to wait a minute for something, but that minute felt like five? Like time was holding its weight over your head, feeling anticipation build, stretching itself out just because it could. You wait, and you wait, and it watches.
Or like when you're with someone you've been looking forward to all day. You know you've got at least three hours together, and somehow twenty minutes later its already time to go. Time has power, but it almost never seems to use it in your favor.
Then there are moments when it freezes. When it lets you take everything in, lets your mind catch up to your body. Maybe that's mercy. Maybe that's so you don't lose it completely
Either way, time always moves when it wants to
Time never says goodbye, but I will. Leaving Mary J's now, goodbye stranger
