I hate how some grown-ups act like they are always right just because they are older or more successful in life. They act like they know everything, but sometimes, they are the ones who hurt us the most. My parents are strict and controlling, and sometimes, I feel like I do not have the freedom to express myself or make my own choices. My dad can be manipulative, while my mom is also strict in her own ways. My aunts and uncles disappoint me too because some of them act kind and understanding at first, but in the end, it feels like they only want something from us. Some of them think so highly of themselves because they have successful careers, but being successful does not mean you are always right or know how to treat people properly. Even my grandparents sometimes fail to understand us. I know they are older and have their own beliefs, but I wish they would understand that being young does not mean we have no problems or feelings. We get tired too. We get hurt too. We have our own struggles, even if we do not always show them. Sometimes, it feels like adults expect us to understand them all the time, but they never try to understand us. They want us to respect them, listen to them, and follow their rules, but what about our feelings? What about the things we go through? It is frustrating how they expect us to act maturely when they cannot even admit their own mistakes. They always tell us to learn from them, but sometimes, they are the ones teaching us the wrong things. I hate how some adults think that being older gives them the right to control us, judge us, or make us feel small. I just wish they understood that we are still growing, learning, and trying our best. We do not need adults who always think they are right. We need adults who know how to listen, understand, admit their mistakes, and make us feel safe instead of making our lives harder. Being young is already hard enough, and it becomes even harder when the people who are supposed to guide us are the same people who make us feel misunderstood, exhausted, and emotionally drained. I am tired of adults acting like they can never be wrong just because they have more experience in life. Sometimes, I wish they would stop looking down on us and remember that they were young once too. We are not asking them to be perfect. We just want them to understand us, respect our feelings, and realize that we are human beings too, not just children who have to follow everything they say without question.
At this point, I feel like I would rather learn to handle things on my own than keep hoping that an adult will come along and help us. It is exhausting to keep looking for someone who understands, only to end up feeling disappointed again. The people we expect to guide us do not always know what is best for us, and sometimes, the people who promise to help are the ones who make things more difficult. It makes me wonder if I should just focus on myself, learn from my own experiences, and become the person I need instead of waiting for someone else to be there for me. I know I am still young, and I still have a lot to learn, but I do not want to keep depending on people who make me feel like my problems do not matter. I want to become independent, not because I think I know everything, but because I am tired of expecting so much from people who keep letting me down. Sometimes, I just wish I had someone I could trust without having to question their intentions. But if I cannot find that kind of person right now, maybe I should start by learning how to stand up for myself and take care of my own well-being.
