I peer into mirrors
for one I might recognize.
Sometimes a stranger returns my gaze,
wearing my features as borrowed raiment,
holding my eyes like stolen property.
When did I begin to change
without consent,
without witness?
Reflection answers nothing,
and I stand before it
alone, unmoored.
