One week after cutting down fast social media

In a topic of whimsical living, dopamine detox, mindful productivity, sensory grounding, digital minimalism, neo-digital whimsy, internet revival, cyber-flaneur, slow living, and taking back your life.

It has been a week since "Guys! I am going to cut down fast social media" and here is the first update.

First things first, I could not commit 100% and I can only cut it down slowly. But I have already noticed some changes. Before cutting down my social media screen time, I would uncontrollably doomscroll. Even if I only intended to open the app to message somebody. It could start with just checking out the story, then move to a carousel post, and then somehow I moved to the reel. Before I know it, I have scrolled for 15 minutes. Now, it isn’t as uncontrollable, I am aware of every post I scroll. And the reels don’t feel as interesting anymore, they feel like eating a bad junk food. Lol. I guess that means it is working.

Log

1. Replace fast social media with slower one (FriendRewind, Spacehey, and Tumblr)

Yeah like 30%?

2. Only go to Insta or TikTok to text friends, and watch the reels they sent me

Nope, I still consume the media, and I don't reply to my friends...

3. No media while I am doing something, including walking, showering, and cooking

Kind of, I play games while walking and cooking instead (Why did I even do that? It's dangerous?). And I still consume media while cooking

4. No media 1 hour after waking and 1 hour before sleeping

Nope

5. Plan out my day the day before so that I actually follow through

I really should, because otherwise I end up doing useless stuff like scrolling reels and shorts, and watching YouTube and Netflix
