weird al fan encounter in the wild.....

allow me to set the scene.

i was in walmart listening to polkas on 45 on loop, as one does. thinking about the weird al concert i will be going to in 5 months, as one does.

then, i see one of the employees wearing a shirt under his little walmart vest thing that says "weird". i think to myself heh....i know a guy that's weird... and continue taking things out of the cart. then i look back at this employee and see that underneath weird, it shows the letters "ankov". interesting....like...yankovic? weird al yankovic? i look down a little further. i see weird al's face peeking through from under the vest. 

at this point ive already whispered to my mom "dude that guys wearing a weird al shirt" and then the guy comes over. my mother's social anxiety is not quite as bad as mine so she tells the guy that we like his shirt and that we're going to see al in october. he says that he saw him last year and liked the show. I got to talk to him about puddles pity party bcuz my mom didn't know who he was.

overall enjoyable interaction. very rarely do i meet fans of the things i like out irl which is entirely due to most of the things im a hardcore fan of being weird as hell (no pun intended lol) weird al is probably the most mainstream thing ive hyperfixated on. and yet, this is the first weird al fan ive met that wasn't online. you'd think these people would be a little more cultured but i guess not many people my age know him </3
