Theme: The internet is somewhere you go

Use SpaceHey as your main social media.

Avoid scrolling modern social media as much as possible.

Imagine you are sitting at a family computer or bedroom desktop.

Write a blog entry about “logging on.”

Comment on profiles as if they are your friends' MySpace pages.

Create a list of your fictional Top 8 friends.

Profile mood:

Finish customizing your profile.

Add glitter, pixel art, GIFs, skulls, roses, stars, or broken hearts.

Make a dramatic profile song.

Write a diary entry about your mood.

Create a playlist for your character.

Make an AIM away message.

Use 2000s-style text like:

Challenge: Don't post everything instantly. Let your thoughts exist in your diary.

💿 Day 4 — “Burned CD Day”

Theme: Music is physical

Create a fictional burned CD.

CD name ideas:

SAD BUT BEAUTIFUL

MALL MUSIC 2004

Make a handwritten-looking tracklist and decorate the imaginary CD case.

Then spend the day listening to music as if you only had access to your personal collection.

Diary prompt:

“If this song was the soundtrack to my life, what scene would I be in?”

Day 5 — “A Night in 2004”

Theme: Entertainment

Have a completely 2000s-style evening:

Watch a DVD or early-2000s movie/show.

Watch TV instead of endlessly scrolling.

Use a DVD menu if possible.

Imagine waiting for commercials.

Eat snacks while watching something.

Write down what you watched in your diary.

Example diary entry:

watched a movie tonight. commercials were annoying. still better than being bored online. x_x

Day 6 — “Mall Goth / Scene Day”

Theme: Going out

Make this your mall day.

If you can:

Visit a mall.

Browse clothing stores.

Look for band tees, accessories, jewelry, or emo/scene-inspired clothes.

Visit an arcade.

Get food from a food court.

Take digital-camera-style photos.

If you can't go to a mall, recreate the experience by:

Making a fake shopping list.

Looking through old catalogs or 2000s fashion.

Creating a fictional mall itinerary.

Character mission: Your character must buy or “discover” one new item.

📸 Day 7 — “Digital Camera Day”

Theme: Low-quality memories

Take photos with a digital-camera mindset.

Take pictures of ordinary things.

Don't over-edit them.

Use flash photography.

Take slightly awkward selfies.

Make a folder called JULY 2004.

Imagine uploading the best photos to your profile.

Create a photo caption like:

random pics from today lol. dont ask about the last one x_x

You can also make a fictional photo album for your character.

💬 Day 8 — “AIM & Online Friends”

Theme: Socializing

Create a fake AIM-style social routine.

Make:

A screen name

An away message

A buddy list

A few fictional friends
