Went to a Rodeo (yeehaw!)

So, I grew up in a rural area, which I feel like compared to more urban/suburban areas has a more community and nature oriented culture. I never really realized that until I moved away for college. On Saturday, I went to my first rodeo with my family. Honestly, it's crazy to me that I haven't gone to one sooner, but there's always a first time for everything!

I think in recent years, rodeos have exploded in popularity, and I mostly attribute that to the popularity of shows like Yellowstone and the overall resurgence in the cowboy aesthetic. You could really see that in a large group in rodeo-goers, who you could tell they didn't come from rural areas because they dressed up, rather than anticipating the dust and dirt that gets kicked up. 

As for the events, it was what you would expect, bucking horses and bull riding (and a lot more!). For any of you that have gone to a jousting event at a ren faire, it was a lot like that. 

City-slickers aside, it was loads of fun. It was nice to have an excuse to put on my hat and boots :)

If you find yourself in the vicinity of a rodeo, I highly recommend that you check it out! Just remember they can get pretty dusty, so don't wear your Sunday best!
