Instagram, TikTok, snapchat. Everything is recorded, put online, and scrutiny never goes away in this day and age. No one is themselves, it is all what people want to see. We all have a version of ourselves created to impress, the side that is shown to the rest of the population. It is a prison of screens and lies. Us as humans have been trapped in between constraints that have been disguised as 'trends'. No one is free, no one can escape the crushing pressure that comes with media.
"Filters have made the idea of beauty unattainable for people everywhere. Anyone could change their face, their bodies, and on a platform as big at TikTok or Instagram, younger kids get sucked into the prison too." Maeva Smith explained after being asked about the trap that is social media.
Every minute, 528,000 photos are sent on Snapchat, 456,000 tweets are shared, and 47,000 photos are posted on Instagram. (B. Marr) Everything is being shared, nothing is private, people feel a need to inform the internet.
Freedom comes from accepting that not everything has to align with what media tells us. Once we let go of the vice that is trends and accept ourselves for who we are, not who the internet tells us to be, then we will be truly free in a world where everything is documented.

media was never a true source of freedom but since society has grown so reliant on it we now seek it

Most of the subversion for censorship, and against the 1st ammendment is done by Americans, to Americans... We have to get together and show people how important freedom of speech is, even when it offends us, even when it disgusts us, even when it makes us feel bad.
Just like the gym leads to sore muscles and feeling bad for a while, yet it makes the muscles stronger in the long run. The same is true of the mind.
