iron commanders is a story that dives into the magical high-fantasy realm of Bayania, a massive continent full of countries all vying for world domination 

we see Bayania through the eyes of various characters throughout the book, but the main characters are Michael O'Shaughnessy and Patrick Fitzpatrick, two Irish immigrants to America who enlisted in the USMC and fought in Afghanistan

but then, I hear you ask

b-b-but Peanut, you talented wordsmith that you are... W-why yap about two Earthlings in a fantasy story!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!??

well, you see, this is because michael and patrick actually died while fighting

however, instead of regularly dying, their bodies disappeared and re-appeared in Bayania 

the two were brought back to life in the Demonic Empire, a nation on the brink of collapse from a terrible war. it turns out, the Demonic Empire resourced its Emperors via taking dead people from other realms, they were chosen only by luck of the dice

so they use their knowledge of modern weaponry and cars to essentially skip the Renaissance and Industrial Revolution for the Demonic Empire

the story follows them and the Demonic Empire as the nation tries to explore an incertain world
