Where is your love? - not so poem

Her soft fingers trail up your arm.

Your weary eyes raise to meet the rainfall in hers.

"Where is your mercy?"

Her touch sharpens; you wince at her nails.

A threat to get under your skin.

"Where is your patience?"

Storms build in her eyes

And she's got you pinned.

Droplets of blood escape you

as she drags her claws down.

"Where is your tolerance? You had so much of it!"

You grasp her arm, but that's all you can manage.

"Where is your love?"

You glance at the hurricane seeping out of her.

"In the end, you had so little of it!" she howled.

Divine punishment of eternal rain,

Lightning that bends time in the sky,

Thunder that reverberates in your being,

Winds that topple the most stable towers...

Guilt will bring this into your life.

Yet, in her storm, there is clarity.

Stare it in the eye,

See through her distortions,

And open the doors of acceptance.

She offers you her hand.

You take it, callous and rough in yours,

But that is the nature of truth.

Worn and bold; unimpressive and authentic.

She helps you reach one conclusion.

You loved as much as you humanly could.
