Who's There?

I woke up in a dimly lit room. I sat up quickly, quicker than intended. Where was I? I looked around the messy room, but then, I heard footsteps. My eyes darted around for a weapon; I saw a guitar and rushed over to get it. As soon as I grabbed it the door opened, I spun around gripping the guitar handle, I froze. It was him, Jace, the boy I spent all my time trying to impress, standing across the room. What was this feeling? It wasn’t the same as before, I didn’t feel the urge to kiss him, hug him, or even hold his hand. This was stronger, almost like, I wanted to bite him? My eyes darted to the bite on my arm that was now bandaged, had he been caring for me? I snapped out of my train of thought as I heard a voice, his voice, “Put the guitar down idiot, I’m not one of those zombie freaks.” I start to lower the guitar. That voice I had always imagined but never heard, it was beautiful, almost angelic, not too deep or too squeaky, smooth with no cracks. The guitar hit the ground with a thud, my mouth opened to speak and then closed just as quickly. He moved across the room, he stopped right in front of me, warmth creeped up my face. He grabbed his guitar and sat it back on its stand and walked away, “You should be resting, you are crazy pale.” He said bluntly, I mustered up the courage to speak, “I feel fine, great even!” I wasn’t lying, I felt amazing, but I couldn’t deny his comment, I was pale, very pale, almost pure white. He looked at my arm skeptical, “Why the hell were you out there? Have you not seen the news?” I felt embarrassed, I didn’t want to admit I was doing a silly trend, but I had no excuse. I thought for a moment and decided to tell the truth, “I was trying to get a photo,” I paused, “with the zombie. It’s a popular trend-” I was trying to defend myself, but I knew it was dumb, I was dumb. But he didn’t say that, instead he simply nodded and said, “You should be more careful, I was worried.” He was worried? Him? My eyes widened, “I’m so sorry, I’d never mean to worry anyone.” I stammered but my face exposed me, my eyes beamed and my cheeks were burning red. He rolled his eyes, “You can stay here for a while until you are better.” He seemed to immediately regret his statement.
