Alright, so I have always wondered why some people are considered normal and some aren't. You walk into I dunno, let's say school, a tiny ecosystem of its own, the place where the social pyramid is the most important thing to some, and completely irrelevant to the sane ones. You see the popular girls, the ones that fit the beauty standard, the ones who pay attention to boys a lot,and are mean to the ones considered below. The jocks, are the ones that pay a lot of attention to sports (though it could just be a stereotype,l couldn't care less), the ones that are mean too,and are typical chiselled jawed assholes. Why are they popular? Who are they popular to? Why do we consider them popular and just the ways nature has made it?
There isn't really a biological category of normal person versus abnormal person.the word 'normal' plays a bit part of this entire thing. What usually gets called "normal" is closer to socially common, behaviors that are widespread enough that people stop noticing them as behaviors at all. Why is this even a thing? Why do we have to normalise something and set it up as the core fundamental criterion?
From what I understand,"popular" isn't necessarily a measurement of how much everyone likes you. It's often a measurement of how much social visibility and status you have within the particular hierarchy that happens to dominate the environment. Because hell, I hate most popular kids 7due to how boring and incredibly fucking egotistical they are.Someone can be extremely popular within one social group and completely irrelevant outside it.A football player might be known by other athletes while the art kids barely know his name.Someone who is considered weird by the majority might be incredibly well liked by a small group of people who actually share their interests.
So. I am going to make a statement: weird, peculiar and nonconforming people are much cooler, but I'm a specific way.. lemme explain
social conformity exists. Humans copy one another constantly.Clothes, music, hairstyles, opinions, humor, even what we're supposed to find embarrassing can spread through groups. There's a very practical reason for this, that being humans are intensely social animals, and conformity historically helped people remain part of their group. You can have the mainstream group with its clothes, slang and interests, and then an alternative group with its clothes, slang and interests and its own idea of what is “cringe.” Both groups can end up policing their members.
The genuinely interesting person isn't necessarily the person who looks the strangest. It's the person who actually thinks for themselves, regardless of whether their conclusions happen to resemble everyone else's. THAT Is what non conformity is, and more and more people should be apart of that true, refreshing nonconformism
It can be good because following a rule simply because everyone else follows it isn't necessarily a good way to decide what's right. It encourages independent thinking, instead of automatically accepting whatever your environment tells you is normal, you can stop and ask “Why?”, actually question it, It can also encourage creativity.most social changes came from people who questioned established conventions rather than simply accepting them.Nonconformity can give you room to develop your own interests and identity instead of constantly adjusting yourself for approval, and it can make you more comfortable with being judged or misunderstood
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment-" Ralph Waldo Emerson
So basically, Be yourselves and GO CRAZY, DONT BE A NORMIE
