Why FriendRewind...

I had a MySpace account in the early 00's and it had this really cool layout. Since I'm a lover of cold weather, I decided my layout should reflect that. It had this snowy forest background, falling snowflakes, and whenever I hovered over my top 8, ice crystals would form over their profile pictures. Needless to say, I was very proud of it.

It was a sad day when the MySpace that I loved was no more. Instead, it turned into this music site that really sucked and the rest of us were stuck with Facebook. Yes... I have a damn Facebook account, but I hate it. I used it for a while when my daughter was younger as a means to update family members on how we were doing, because they were more familiar with it, but now that she has been an adult for a while, I rarely use it. Plus, it has become progressively more annoying and controversial over the  years.

Honestly, I have been longing for a way to connect with others online without having to compromise my individuality or feel as if every other post is an advertisement that I do not care about. I missed meticulously curating my layout, writing blogs that allowed me to share my thoughts/opinions, and don't get me started on the song that plays when someone views your profile or all the shiny, sparkling glitter gifs that make everything so much more magical. I tried Spacehey because I crave nostalgia, but it didn't have the traction that I had hoped it would. After a few months, it just died exponentially and I never really was able to form connections with people on there.

FriendRewind has been good to me thus far. It's only been a week, but I already feel like the friends that I have added and the people who are currently on here are really interesting and genuinely seem like they are looking for that same connection, which makes me happy. There's a lot of other bonuses that relate to coding as well, but I am definitely not a coder, so I will leave that review for the experts. I'm feeling pretty optimistic about this place. I look forward to meeting all the cool weirdos and creatives, who only tip-toe into the abyss that is the internet, whenever they see sparkles and hear good music.
