Work 7th Aug '26

Hey Blog,

I just got back from work. I normally do sound for bands that have gigs at the venue i work at, but today it was just a DJ set. when I got in at around 8:45 I started to organise cables, check on the gear to check it was all working and adjust the lights. the dj hadn't arrived yet and my standing manager was telling me about how plans had kept changing with conflicting information about what the night was gonna be like. (everyone was also a whole hour later than expected so we had to rush to set up the things they had brought)

Heres the mixing Desk and rack console I use to mix and amplify the sound:

it took a while for people to start to dance (I think they just needed a bit more alcohol in them) but once they settled into the night it was super fun! the corridor between the bar/lounge and the venue is so tight though there was constantly people walking in both directions as well as a queue for the bathroom so you couldn't move in there at all! luckily i didn't go back to the lounge much apart from when I went to the bar. XD

once it reached like 1:00am i decided to have the lunch i had bought for myself earlier in the day and it was so good!!!! 

by 3:00 the music had stopped and then the cleaning process begun, the worst part of the night... it took almost 2 hours to do with sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, wrapping cables, collecting glasses/cups, moving amps/drums between rooms and... cleaning toilets... T-T. the amount of time i spent there really messed my hair up too!!! by the time i reached my place it was basically 5:00 and it was actually light outside! i cant wait to get back to may parent's house this afternoon.
