Writing Short Stories Practice

If you write stories or any other type of text and haven’t tried this method yet, you should definitely consider it. It’s an excellent exercise! Use a website that generates random words to create a list. Then, try to write a story that is not only based on those words but also incorporates the exact same words into the text.

I know it might seem a bit difficult, but trust me, it actually makes the process of brainstorming or writing sentences much easier. Instead of just trying to construct a sentence, you are looking to create something that both incorporates that specific word and relates to your story. In this way, one component of what you want to express is already prepared. This approach makes things simpler, at least, that has been my experience.

I personally began writing a short story using this very method; it had remained a short story for now, but the work is still ongoing and could eventually evolve into a novella if I keep it up. (and if I don't suddenly feel like this was the worst idea I ever had for a story.) All of this was made possible by using random words, a technique that helps you discover fresh ideas and expand your story, even when you have no idea how to proceed.
