My favourite is eurasian jay because I find it fascinating that they can mimic voices. I've been trying to find a reason why they do so, but I couldn't find anything related in books which noted it as a funfact. I heard one mimic a buzzard and a cat. Not to mention, they're pretty. What's your favourite bird?euroasian jay

* picture is not mine

crow crow crow crow CAQUAK CAQUAK!!

rn probs mourning doves :3

@VoidCat444xxX update i have to admit mimicking their coos has become a vocal stim TToTT

crows or any other kind of corvid!!! also black-capped chickadees because they have a really sweet springtime song and they're just cuties

I really love mourning doves & swans. Mourning doves make beautiful noises in the quiet, people do not like them however because their sounds could be mistaken for owls.

Replying to @kaal (post is on page 1): “Crows <3 highly intelligent fellers. They can recognize your face and remember it for years. They hold grudges better than some humans. Nature's sanitatio...”

@kaal

Gotta back you up on the crows, such smart critters

I like Doves. They are so chubby and cute 😁

MANDARIN DUCKKK

Probably the pied butcherbird or bluejays

oh this is exactly where i should be! i could geek about birds all day

the male bufflehead duck is one i'd love to see irl, their coloring is so gorgeous. i also want to see a painted bunting, but they are not native in my part of north america so i'd def have to travel.

i've always wanted to do a big year w my partner, it's def on my bucket list!

my birds r my favorite birds

the one on the right is a sun counure (Cosmo) and the one on the left is a jenday conure (pilot) 🦜

Mine is probably the Mourning Dove! They are so beautiful and I love their voice

Secretary birds!!! They're so cool!

I have so many favorite birds....They range from either just "Awww I wanna take them home!!!" to "Wow..Their existence is so fascinating..."
Though my favorites have always been the ones that are considered columbidae

I always get really happy when I see a pigeon in a train station...

Besides that, I also love quails!!!!!!!

These ones are the tiniest... The chicks are about the size of a penny T____T

Though I've always been fascinated by flightless birds or the ones found in small islands or in jungles, especially in Papua New Guinea...Cause there are so many undiscovered ones and some just look absurd...It makes me wonder if some dinosaurs looked similiarly that way
This is Parotia bird, they make really goofy mating dances, but it's very interesting, if you realize how it looks for the female bird's perspective

As for flightless birds... Cassowaries have to be my favorite and also penguins
I also find the ones that are near extinction or are already extinct very fascinating, like the dodos or the great auks

Some honorable mentions that are my favorites are the ptarmigans, pheasants, sparrows or finches

Prometheus was punished by the gods for giving the gift of knowledge to man. He was cast into the bowels of the earth and pecked by birds.

I love all kinds of birds, it's hard to choose a favorite. My most recent favorite has been the Eider duck. Not only are the males gorgeous, but they sound like Betty White. Also titled as one of the toughest ducks for being able to survive in brutally cold arctic waters.

Then there's Steller's Eider

...and the Spectacled Eider

And awebo

Chinese monal, Barn Owl and Tui
