Posting this to see what movies you all have watched and enjoyed, but no one else you know has ever heard of it.
To start with mine, since I've never met another person who knows about this movie, Kafka released in 1991 starring Jeremy Irons. The only reason I know about it is because it's mentioned in Johnny the Homicidal Maniac #3. It's obviously inaccurate to Kafka's life and works but it's a really enjoyable watch for me.
1991.
A favorite little obscurity of mine, and i feel even in the weird horror b-movie crowd, is very under appreciated.
now, i could say all the cliche "underground" or niche movies, from Salo, to paris texas, to maniac, to audition, to riki oh, but those are popular within the "movie goer" community, they just weird and unknown to total normies.
However , if you did mean those..................
i could go on for fucking ever with that shit.
but ill try to stick to semi deep cuts sorta..

maybe gaining some fame lately but still, even by people who know like braindead or bad taste, they often dont know this one sometimes,
and i also consider it a huge undersung gem of its type.

To step away from the gross or scary here for a sec. i never hear about this from anyone else, and it is lovely, its got strong ghibli vibes, but if ghibli was slightly lynchian.
It is beautiful, whimsical and a little dark, and i cant suggest it enough. it feels like dreaming.

Dont let the looks decieve you. this at first appears like a cheap ass slasher piece of crap made with just good looking people and a cheap ass budget and shit writers that you would expect out of unimpressive straight to dvd low effort schlock of the early 2000s.
but it will surprise you. i promise you. look nothing up about it, and dont get discouraged by the start and early movie. it builds into fun stuff.

just a fun "two troubled teen boys go on a bender in LA that leads to increasing intensity of criminal activity" movie.
Nice glimpse into the area at the time. And just kind of a timecapsule escapism.
if you were too young to be there (i wasnt born yet for a short bit) lets you envision a crazy bender in 1985 LA. and thats my sort of thing, i dig that, maybe its yours...

Uncut traversal of a spooky as fuck house during a home invasion while you stay with the girl in danger.
Absolute gold. (bit of a silly end maybe but dont worry about it still worth it)
There was an american remake. wasnt too bad,
but i would have to say the original is far superior still. specially the environment.
you will need subtitles, it is uraguayan.
And in my opinion, pretty fuckin dope.

so this movie is about these guys who buy this evil bong and it kills one of their girls I think. But then the bong has like a strip club in side of it or something. there's a old man there who really likes hot wheels and a LOT of boobs. but in the end they get out of the drugged realm the bong had put them in and kill it!!! but there's 10 other movies so she keeps on coming back ig.
