One of the instruments I’ve wanted to learn for the longest time is the electric guitar but sadly I never got to pursue it because I’ve always lived in an apartment and I was worried about getting noise complaints. I’ll probably be moving out once I’m done with university though and I’ve also found a lot of ways to practise without making much noise. Now my only concern is whether starting at 21 is too late

hey my friend, it is never to late to do anything.
for practicing without making too much noise, you can invest in a audio interface, and try some guitar simulators.
@Luxu | Panzervice i have been looking at one. I have seen a lot of people use a red one from Focusrite so when i buy an electric guitar, I might go for that

You can even get these pocket amp things. They're like the size of two fingers, you put it in your guitar jack and hook headphones to them. I have this one by Lekato that has a whole heap of guitar tones to fiddle around with. The Valeton GP-50 foot pedal can also be played through headphones.
And yeah, 21 isn't too late. Music is great.

The Amplug is exactly what I was talking about with pocket amps. Getting an audio interface like a Scarlett is good if you're doing stuff with a home studio (which is another conversation), but for personal practice a pocket amp like the Amplug is a great choice and will be more gentle on your wallet.

Don't worry about noise complaints too much lol. Just keep it down tbh and you should be good. But if it is that serious, I'd recommend getting guitar headphones!

@mumbojayjumbo that was quick as hell i pray im that quick of a learner. I've always been really bad at anything artistic but eyy practice makes perfect so we'll see when the time comes
