Jumping right into things: What's your comfort outlet? What's something you sink a lot of time into? What's something you invest in to find a level of comfort? Life can be harsh in general, but we all have that daily escape. We all have that thing that grants us a bit of release, even if it's just for a moment. What's yours? Mine is probably gaming, but that's because with the titles I play every upgrade feels meaningful. Let me know below what yours is!

For me, it's doing my cardio and some machine weight exercises at Planet Fitness three times a week. That might sound cliché, but for me it's a Godsend. I retired at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. So, there really wasn't much to do or anywhere to go. Even though I took walks every day, it still wasn't enough to fend off the ever increasing weight gain and bad cholesterol numbers. By 2022 started getting myself into the gym. Anyway, I think if I didn't have this regular gym routine, I'd be going stir crazy.

@Timothy G a fellow runner! Years ago, I did the same. Ironically enough it allowed me to put on a bit of muscle and increased my VO2 Threshold. I completely relate to getting more healthier though. Be proud of that progress! Especially sticking with it, I know starting out is pretty difficult. Keep up the wonderful work!

I love ttrpgs for this! I forget myself and the world, and get to storytell with some of my closest friends. We can laugh, cry, fight all in good fun.

Games do this for me too, but it's always the multiplayer aspect with friends that I love most.

When by myself, I get a lot out of art, the feeling of creating something I'm proud of is second to none.

two things awe me most: the starry sky above me, and the moral law within me"

@medeuxsa there's nothing like a good story to tell! Especially in the company of friends. It becomes like a theater environment, where people have a role to play. But unlike a theater environment, you get creative freedom of the story! That social aspect acts as motivation tool to gather and a way to cut loose a bit! Creating something fulfills this to, no? I imagine seeing your efforts on a Canvas, creates a sense of accomplishment!

making masks brings me great comfort , and drawing things to . my kitty kats are also comfort outlet..  ヾ(`・ω・´)ノ

@mrsurrealist a creative outlet indeed! Making those masks probably is a lot of fun, because different emotions and expressions goes into creating each one! Drawing is great too and so are cats! Cats are neat to have around, since they can make a otherwise boring day interesting with their antics!

Building and painting models. Playing and listening to music. Gaming is fun too but sometimes it seems to do more bad than good for me.

@SlimeyAndGross my brother paints and build car models, as well as Gundams. Seems intriguing and leads to some pretty neat mini projects there! It's good you recognize that with gaming. Sometimes what works for one person, doesn't work for another! Glad to see thus far, I'm getting a wide variety of answers!

Tbh idk if I have one. 😬😅 It used to be indoor climbing, I would go 6 days a week and it always helped me feel less sad/angry/ negative. The problem is 1- I have ME/CFS now so most days I can't climb even though I want to, and 2- they raised the climbing gym membership to $120/month and I'm broke lol. 🥲 I need to start playing Webkinz again tho!!! Webkinz has always been a great outlet for me ; it's familiar, it's something I have control over, it's fun, and its nostalgic. I'm getting a Webkinz tattoo when I have the money! 💖

@itsmilograve that condition sounds a pain in the bucket. All that fatigue, is well exhausting. Especially when your energy reserves don't let you do a sport like that. I messed up my foot years ago, but it's chronic now. Which means no more running, so I feel your pain! Webkinz was the game where you enter codes that came with plushes or toys in game to unlock those virtual pets right? You unlocked a core memory, because I remember there being lots of games like that with their own spin on the web years ago. I didn't even know it was still around! Thanks for sharing!

@RoxRose yes, that's Webkinz! It's so so fun and there are so many games and things to do on there. You can never get bored! It still exists, but you have to download it now because there's no more Adobe FlashPlayer. There's a new version called Webkinz Next, but I love the og game too much to ever really play the new one, plus it's clearly aimed at Gen Alpha.

Gaming, coming up with stories, but usually both at once lol. Anything that lets my mind freely wander is a positive to me!!

@reverie99 the best works of art, including stories, comes when your in the zone! When you get hyper focused, you reach a state where you get bunch of ideas going! A lot of those ideas, in my experience, got me excited for the next project or back in the day, the next race! Solid answer!

Mines is either day dreaming, reading, and drawing

@Chiimafu all of those are fantastic ways to get relaxed. Reading allows you to admire something that took someone else effort to create. Drawing acts as a form of self-expression. While Day dreaming resets the cycle. It acts as a filter to reset the mood too. You love to hear it!

When I started making affirmation cards, it actually became a really nice coping skill!

Otherwise, I love my monthly rage room appointment. Best outlet I've ever given myself.

✨💖✨✌️✨

@ᖇᨵׁׅ꯱ꮛ✨ those are really effective from what I hear. Have daily reminders that you're enough, is a powerful motivator! Those positive statements you make for yourself there, act as a confidence boost too. With enough confidence one day forward becomes much more! Those rage room appointments work really well. I went years ago, but if it works well for you keep it up! I still use advice and skills I learned from mine today.

Reading and gaming are mine! But I recently started this book thats 100 days of drawing with 100 days of prompts to draw to and it's been a nice thing to add to my day

@hcpd a nice balance there! That's a good concept to follow. With so many days of doing a certain skill you will improve at it. Having different prompts or scenarios allows you to adapt too! You're not only building skills, but a baseline for future success too!

It use to be art, then it was gaming, but now it's resistance band training. Epic stress relief. ❤️
