Jumping right into things: What's your comfort outlet? What's something you sink a lot of time into? What's something you invest in to find a level of comfort? Life can be harsh in general, but we all have that daily escape. We all have that thing that grants us a bit of release, even if it's just for a moment. What's yours? Mine is probably gaming, but that's because with the titles I play every upgrade feels meaningful. Let me know below what yours is!
Replying to @(e)Nygma (post is on page 1): “ It use to be art, then it was gaming, but now it's resistance band training. Epic stress relief. ❤️ ”

@(e)Nygma and different ways to challenge yourself as well! As time goes on, old interests fade and new ones take root. Art likely was a creative outlet. Gaming was likely done for sheer enjoyment, of one aspect or another. The resistance band training, now that's awesome! You're building strength and flexibility over time. Practice makes perfect. And your doing a solid job of improving yourself!

I really put a lot of energy into gaming that is honestly such a comfort for me, especially games like Pokopia, Animal Crossing, and Dragon Quest Builder. Something I also like to do is colour with alcohol markers, saw it on reddit one day and I thought to myself..I could do that and hey, I totally can!

I really want to get into crocheting because I think it would be a lovely pass time to keep my mind and sore hands busy. I could make a lot of gifts for people that are filled with love (the best kind of gift). So if there are any master crocheters on here that want to give a newbie any tips, I would love to hear them ♥

@kaylvang.mp3. Solid line up of titles you got there. Animal crossing especially since life simulators are great breaks from stress. Alcohol Markers? That's fascinating actually. I never would've imagined that was a thing, but I'm learning a bit more. My grandfather crocheted and so did my real life friend. Both did it for similar reasons as you want to do. They used to make gifts and such for people too. And I have to say, something you take the time to create yourself has more value and meaning! I hope someone is able to point you in the right direction here!

the typical movies music games etc.
Sometimes when i have the momentum, night walks.
these days more often then not video essay type vids on youtube lol.

@⸸⸸⸸𝕶𝖎𝖑𝖑𝖌𝖆𝐳𝖒𝖔𝖙𝖗𝖔𝖓⸸⸸⸸ the greatest things to enjoy in life are usually the simplest outlets. I'm the same way bud. Especially with those night walks. In my area at night, the town is small enough where it becomes a mini ghost town. But it's neat I get to experience that sometimes alone. Those video essay videos are wonderful. A lot of effort goes into them, it'd probably be what I'd do if I made videos honestly. Seems fun!

@RoxRose
big part of why i cant wait for winter. around here its so cold people hide so deep away from the outside its like the whole world is yours lol.

mine is def doll collecting!!

i think curating a collection can feel very grounding; one of my absolute favourite parts is the "tactile" routine of it, especially brushing and styling their hair. it feels almost therapeutic hehe

@606 oh gosh! I haven't seen a doll collection in a very long time. It's funny you say that, but that was my grandmother's favorite part too. She liked brushing out their hair and making sure they were in pristine condition! I can see it though, when you have a collection that's in good condition it does bring you a sense of joy and accomplishment!

Different things at different stages in life. Often, after a number of years, I'll return to an earlier comfort.

Lately it's been D&D ... but that's not entirely honest.

I like D&D, but the comfort is spending time with my friends sitting around a table and laughing our butts off while we tell collaborative stories!

@Cranky Old Witch D&D is what you and your friends use as an outlet to gather around. Not for the game itself exactly, but because it brings everyone together. Because it creates unexpected experiences. It's because everyone cuts back and gets to be themselves! Those stories being told, I can only imagine what levels of emotions get put into them. Those are the best kinds of days/nights.

Playing music has been my no. 1 for years and years and years. I play my guitar or banjo or sing as a form of catharsis really. It's just something that's always been there for me no matter what. I also enjoy watching movies and TV and stuff, but music is really My Thing.

🔆Sol🔆

@Sol that's a very good outlet. Music is like the weather in a way. It has highs and lows. It can be calm or wild. But it persists mile after mile. It reflects our mood. Our emotions. Our frame of mind. And our perspectives. Like you said, there's always something there for you. Just like there will be for someone else. The tone, the messages, the energy it all affects us in different ways! I'm glad it acts as a positive structure for you!

throwing myself into horror movies and stories has always been a nice comfort for me. something something i get to pick when things feel chaotic blah blah blah. music is always a nice one too, whether it's listening to music or playing music on guitar or piano. writing is a great outlet as well

video nasty dealer

@draven demon putting yourself in a horror movie scenario, sounds like something deceased director, Wes Craven, was going for when he made the Scream franchise. You can critique the choices made by characters, and how you'd pivot in that scenario. Think of like Marvel Comics what if episodes. A few different choices leads to a different narrative. That's a great thought experiment there. Playing both the Piano and Guitar shows you're confident in yourself. I imagine in ways, the concept is the same with producing noise, but the execution is much different. Listening to music and writing, now that's gold. It's the ultimate thing to distinguish yourself from others!
