multimedia worldbuilding projects sharing thread

Back to Books & Writing

a multimedia project is when you do multiple kinds of creative practices for a single project. it's often for worldbuilding, ie a project for a fictional country that includes art, short stories, and mapmaking, or a project for a fictional planet that includes music, poetry, and 3d modeling. however, it can also be based around characters, novels, comics etc. as well.

here is a multimedia project website created someone i know (shared with permission) as an example (note: this author is actually wondering if she should set up a band account for her fictional band on friendrewind for when she releases their first ep, and i partly created this thread to help her test the waters for that. if you think this is a good idea, let me know)

i really admire the effort that goes into these kinds of projects but i don't stumble on them all that often anymore, especially ever since the "for you feed" algorithms took over. if you have one, don't be shy! put it here for all the world to see!

this project isnt mine but, my favorite popular example of this is absolutely Mystery Flesh Pit National Park

@mallrat

much obliged!

MFPNP is a multimedia worldbuilding project by creative Trevor Roberts, it follows the story of a company (Anodyne Mining Co.) discovering in the soil of Gumpton, Texas, a massive superorganism under the surface of the earth, and this discovery is later mined to oblivion and they turn the superorganism into a National Park site. The story is told through old letters, pamphlets, posters, and edited images, including detailed anatomies of the organism, the facilities in the park and its various areas, wildlife safety pamphlets and EVEN a fake new Coke flavor, made from one of the various substances in the superorganism that acted as an aphrodisiac! (named Coke Hearthrob)

you can find the project on trevors website here:
