What do you think of people who dislike books ?

I saw that people that don't like to read always receive a lot of hate. 

Look, I read books myself and most of my friends don't and I respect that. But, what is your opinion about this ? Do people who don't like reading really  deserve the hate they are getting ? 

and most importantly : How can we convince people to read more books ? 

I think shunning or antagonising people who dislike books is pretty counter productive when it comes to getting others into reading more. I do however respect people who, even if they don't touch books, still engage with art like films, or shows, music, even video games. Almost all of the content that people consume these days has its distant origins rooted in stuff like books, comics or just literature in general. If you like anything at all, I don't see why you wouldn't also enjoy reading something related to it, or even something that probably came from it. I genuinely think there's a book for everyone out there.

That being said, I can't help but feel some disappointment in regards to those who utterly dislike reading because they're missing out on essential stuff like self discovery, self education, hell even entertainment, and about a hundred other things that make us human.

I think it's kind of disappointing, especially since we're in an era where they are scanning books and destroying them, and the whole AI thing as well. I think reading and education is a privelege that a lot of people don't seem to recognize and take for granted. And I kind of don't fully believe people when they say they "don't like reading" because they probably haven't looked into things that have interested them yet.

i find it kinda disappointing and immediately start thinking of books I've  read and explaining the basic storylines to them to see if it piques their interest. :3

low attention span

same way as people who don't like movies, or don't like shows, or don't like music. It's preference at the end of the day.
