White noise? A fan? Music? What genre? Videos?

I used to be an ASMR person. Then I'd watch league of legends games. Then I watched Binding of Isaac gameplay, now I watch Northernlion! I go back to ASMR if I'm having a particularly hard night, but I find the banter from games quiets my thoughts in way idle sounds don't

But that's enough about me, what about you?

Uhm horror YT videos

Et c'est ✨aukay✨

For me it needs to be really dark and completely silent.

"Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night" - Sarah Williams

Depends on how I'm feeling. white or brown noise, thunderstorm and rain sounds, fireplace sounds. Sometimes an audiobook I want to listen to and sometimes a horrifically boring one on purpose. Lectures on youtube. Retro tv asmr. Or complete silence.

It's tamaNOTchi! Click to feed!< click me!<

@xXMissParamourXx I'm learning there are lots of kinds of noise I'm not aware of... I should look into this!!

i fall asleep to the ac on really loud but if its music, its usually modern baseball, alex g, or panic! at the disco but ONLY the pretty. odd. alternative versions

let me save you, hold this rope!

Silence.  If there's noise, I won't fall asleep, or at least it'll take a lot longer.

The good old "Not tired enough" and passing out the next day middle of the day.
I can't sleep normally, I wake up too much and move a lot. So I just stay awake until break point. We could be listening to Hardstep or Uptempo and I wouldn't bat an eye while snoring. . .

ASMR or a podcast

my ceiling fan that sounds like a wind tunnel :)

Slapped Ham, mostly.

either the sally face soundtrack, Burzum, one of my chill playlists or my black metal playlist.

staring at the ceiling

It depends on the season:

Winter: silence (and a purring cat snuggling close)

Spring: wind, rain/storms and spring frogs (there’s a wetland nearby)

Summer: crickets, rain and/or storms, evening birds and frogs.

Fall: migratory birds and their flight calls, wind.

@Kommando Mutiliid that's so interesting! it's cool to think about knowing when the seasons change like that :)

I simply cannot sleep without multiple fans going and when i get bad night anxiety i listen to silent hill ambient music

it rly depends for me tbh. for most of my life it's been nothing but the night breeze and whatever other sounds came in through my open windows, or the sound of the ac running. and i'm still perfectly happy to sleep that way and often do

but for the past couple years or so i've started falling asleep to whatever tv show or yt vid fits the mood that night. since i don't want to put on anything i'd actually want to pay attention to, i usually choose long time favorite/comfort tv shows (been on a personal nostalgia kick recently for some reason, tonight i've put on star trek tos to sleep to) or long edits of streamers i love (mostly jerma, sometimes game grumps or nothernlion)

when i'm having a lot of trouble sleeping i'll put on a mix of rain sounds and brown noise (similar idea to white noise but a different frequency). or if i'm really desperate i try those guided sleep meditations lol

no idea why i felt the need to ramble so much about this but there you go ;>w>

Well since my house is sadly located next to a road I mostly fall asleep to the sounds of passing cars and trucks :)

No sense of real identity

@(m)tropy real! they say you take stuff on while you sleep (or so those "reinforce language learning while you sleep" videos say), i feel like scary stuff would give me nightmares lol

Replying to @Vodkuh (post is on page 1): “I need sound whenever I fall asleep. So for me I listen to a lot of video essays, deep dives, tier lists and lore videos to fall asleep too. There is a huuug...”

@Vodkuh Do you ever go back and watch them when you wake up if it's something you wanted to watch? sometimes I get picky about the videos I pick because I remember them just enough I get annoyed to rewatch, or don't wanna figure out where I fell asleep
