Personally liver is one of my personal dishes, but ive seen many people say it's flavor is disgusting and that they hate it.

for me, the weaker point is less about the taste and more about the texture

i quite like liver pate tho <33

@GOAT  yeah the texture can really put some people off, but you will get used to it if you eat it atleast once a week.

I think it's either a cultural thing or just a development issue. I've noticed a lot more people these days are picky eaters and they live off of either junk or plain and boring foods (especially in western worldz). They're also very stubborn and refuse to try new things from what I've noticed. It's also a big upbringing thing. I was always made to try new foods when I was super young and so I developed a taste for everything, unlike families that bring their children up on more 'child appropriate food' such as plain ol chicken and broccoli, instead of steak, oysters and the like.

But I don't mind liver :P

@Naynoro my parents never gave me organs because they said they didn't like them, fortunately my grandma is a bit more "traditionalist" on foods and gave me it.

I also don't understand people who give children those children friendly foods like mashed vegetables, chicken broth etc; i think that a child will develop good dental structure if it is given foods which require more chewing like meat, but that's just my opinion.

Ive actually never had it outside of it being prepared as an ingredient in faggots  (yes the food, theres a food called that).
From mammals anyway.

chicken livers, i frequently batter and deep fry. they are great.

ive never tried this "faggots", i usually eat it either raw or patè

@SafeInSanity  the idea of human meat gives me a bit of nausea honestly

@SafeInSanity with some fava beans and a nice chianti, right?

No idea. it's probably the best way to to get vitamin b complex, though.

Maybe MySpace was all the friends we made along the way.

@ExMachina it's a superfood, it's the most nutrient and vitamin dense.

@Veles  the hate for vegetables is understendable because they are one of the worst sources of alot of vitamins, while liver is a superfood. The texture is a bit slimy but if you like the flavor youll eat it anyway

I know I don't like the texture, and the flavor can kind of put me off a bit. Were I introduced to it as a small child instead of 10, I probably would enjoy eating it now. My mother enjoys it on occasion, and my late grandfather did as well. However, I do enjoy eating heart, and that's something I never thought I would say.

Part of the liver hate (in the USA, at least) probably can also be attributed to a status symbol. I.E., if you were eating organ meats, it was a "clear indicator" of being poor. While that might not be the case nowadays, I imagine the stigma stuck, especially if you wanted to be seen as doing better than you were. Kind of like if you canned your own foods or sewed your own clothes.

@Erah Mar  my family never "struggled" financially, but my grandmother still gave me liver because it's ineherently the most nutrient organ there is. Liver was the most prized meat for millenias, only recently organs became status of the "poor".

Personally, I don't hate it but I do have to be in the mood for it and a lot of people don't know how to properly make it.

I grew up on it. Im southern and Appalachian, so I ate fried liver and onions a lot as a kid.

@Clueless_Gamer  ive only looked at the appalachias trough photos, are they as beauteful as they seem?

@feralschizoid yes. Im from Chattanooga so its surrounded by them.

There's a huge gap between refrigerated liver you might find at the store and fresh liver. And I mean huge night and day difference. Yeah, all meat is tastiest when fresh but liver is the moodiest meat in this regard. Some might even have had the misfortune of getting a botched piece of liver contaminated with bile because of poor butchery. Liver is definitely the most delicious organ. If you like pate, you will like liver imo

i've only eaten liver during my childhood and it was basically the signal that my family was about to hit a period of finacial struggle, 9yo me hated the texture so going full weeks eating only rice and liver for dinner was my personal hell
