I don't watch horror films because I thought it was always suited for halloween, and that too many horror films nowadays are just obsessed with being "mature".
I like films to have gore, and anything to show that this shit is R Rated as fuck. Don't care about how corny the story is, I just want a good thrill.
August Underground
Pretty much anything in the Evil Dead franchise. The modern adaptations lean much heavier into the straight up gore where the older trilogy leaned further into the absurd and slapstick sorta dark humor.
Event Horizon, The Void, the first Silent Hill movie, Hellraiser 1 and 2, Dawn of The Dead 2000s remake
Its not exactly a typical horror film but Requiem for a Dream really makes me uneasy with the scenes and I havent seen the whole thing due to reason.
Here is a fun horror/sci-fi flick from the 80s.

it's unique and fun pairs well with Night of the Creeps.
if you haven't seen them before i totally recommend annihilation (2018) and the ritual (2017). annihilation is more on the weird sci-fi horror side of things, while the ritual is good old 'fucked up things happen to some guys in the woods' horror lol let me know what you think if you watch either
The evil dead series has a bunch of fun gore, whoever recommended august underground to someone who doesn't watch horror movies is out of their fucking minds though. Oh yeah Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) would be right up your alley.

I LOVE the Monkey!! It's not super scary but it is very silly and a super fun time! Scream and any of the Chucky movies are also awesome(Scream 1 and Child's Play 2 are the best)! If you want something scarier Obsession just came out and it's great
Seconding The Void, it's a very fun and thrilling horror movie with a lot of impressive gory effects (all done practically)! I'd also recommend checking out Nope, it's a very interesting horror movie that borrows from different genres. And if you're looking for a corny gorefest (I call it this with affection) there's always Tokyo Gore Police.
I second The Monkey, I watched it in theaters when it first came out and again with a group of friends on vc, it's a fun, gorey time.
Idk if Obsession would fall into what you're complaining about with horror movies being too "mature" or something, but from what I remember when I first watched it it's pretty damn gorey (please note I was also high af when I first watched it lmao). It's a really popular one rn yes, but it's popular for a reason.
I also watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre fairly recently, that's also a really good one.
