Though I'm not sure it's a war movie in the traditional sense I really like Jarhead

Fury (2014) and The Hunt for Red October (1990).
Fury is about a team of soldiers who command a tank called Fury in the last few weeks of WWII, where they have to fight behind enemy lines. Yeah, sounds boring but I’ve watched it a few times and I think it’s pretty good. Definitely worth watching!
The Hunt for Red October is also really interesting. It’s about a Soviet submarine captain trying to defect to the United States while commanding a scarily stealthy submarine called Red October, set during the Cold War. Again, sounds boring but I was invested in the movie!
First they Killed my Father was a gut punch. Very good though
