Left 4 Dead 2's gotta be my latest fixation lately I love the game to death

I can't tell if this was just a Valve thing, but games closer to the late 2000s started to really incorporate voicelines for EVERYTHING, and it's what gives you immersion and fun now whenever you play stuff like TF2 or L4D, I've always been a sucker for attention to detail

Left 4 Dead 2's personally one of [if not] the best zombie horde shooters of its era and this era, it's held up for what'll be close to two decades and once you find out modding, you never ever go back

a life sentence served and my body's the cell
i don't need to die to know that this is hell

I'm fixated on l4d2 too i love it too much

Tryin to make a change :-\

I played L4D2 on the Xbox 360 and now I play it on my PC; both L4D2 and Call of Duty Zombies are, for me, the best games/modes in the genre.

Mememememe, I play L4D2 with my friends

YES!!! L4D2 is so nostalgic to me, I'm like skillfully bad at it though so my mates never play it with me anymore! </3 It really has held up so well though, I'm biased for zombie games but it is one of my favourites

@gabii

L4D2 with mods... man I love it. 620 hours wasted on that bad boy, and every second was worth it. It's literally the same thing over and over again, but somehow I still love every playthrough.

Yep! Still do! Everytime I sign back on, I forget I have the Teletubbies mod still enabled from the Steam Workshop lol. I do love the console edition a little more for their co-op split screen but I still love the PC versions.

It's not a you thing, there used to be pretty strict limitations regarding audio file sizes that made it rare for multiplayer games to have too many voice lines. Resident Evil: Outbreak for example (the spiritual predecessor to L4D) planned/recorded hundreds of lines for each of the 8 playable characters... only for them to only be able to realistically have ~50 per character (mostly cutscene dialogue, with 10 in game 'call actions' for each of the 8) while an "ad lib" system of on-screen contextual flavor text was used, likely being invented as a response to this limitation.

Even with Left 4 Dead 2, you'll find that they also recorded faaaaar more lines that what made it into the final game, and that it got to the point that some of the other departments/executives at Valve were getting mad, because they were eating up the available space in the game with voicelines, and Chet Falizsek (the writer of L4D/L4D2) was something of a rebel when it came to being told what to do, so he kept writing and recording more anyways.
