Vaccines, What are your thoughts?

I am 63 years old. Ever since I was old enough to make my own medical decisions at age 18 I haven't done a vaccine since. In 45 years I have had the flu twice in my life and probably haven't had it in over 25 years now. Whenever my Dr asks if I want any of the vaccines he says it with a smile and a jokingly tone in his voice because he knows the answer. At 33, I had the chicken pox and I was vaccinated for that, Dr. said I had the worst case he had ever seen. I had it from head to toe and everywhere in between and down my throat and I was sick as hell for about 2 weeks.

Now that doesn't mean I am against all vaccines, the serious childhood vaccines I think are necessary but many I don't (just my personal outlook) but I leave that decision to mom on those for the kids. Covid I didn't get but my wife (she was forced or be fired) and kids did. All 4 of us came down with it twice within months of having it each time and they had it worse than I did and they were vaxxed. Mine was no worse than just a bit worse than a mild flu both times. 

Personally, I think many of these vaccines need to be a personal choice of what a person does or doesn't want in their body and what others have to say about it is not important and they have no right condemning those who choose not to get them. It is a personal choice of the individual. If you're vaxxed you're protected and have no worries, it's not like your going to catch something from someone who isn't vaxxed. You made your choice so let them have their choice. 

Now one I did advocate for my kids to get was for the HPV virus after I was diagnosed a number of years ago with Stage 3 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the throat and tongue caused by the HPV+ virus because you can have the virus in your body and never know it is there til it rears its ugly head and hits you with an ugly cancer like it did me. The virus can stay hidden in your body undetected for 30 or 40 years or longer before it decides to wreak havoc on your body. So I did encourage my wife to take the kids to go get that vaccine but any others are their choice. I seen firsthand the devastating effects this virus can have on not only myself but others that it has affected and believe me when I say it is not a sight you want to see or experience. 

I only believe in the ones for DNA viruses, I don't believe in RNA or mRNA vaccines. I'm still undecided on protein subunit vaccines. 

LIke I said, the childhood ones that we got as kids growing up I think are necessary but the ones in recent years I won't do and personally I think I've been for the better not getting them. 

As far as the one for the HPV virus I have seen firsthand the devastation it causes both with myself and others it affected and wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

Now before I get a bunch of people telling me how bad Covid was and how there was such a great loss of life due to it, do me a favor, and please save your breath. My wife is a nurse and put many patients in the morgue due to Covid and Covid related deaths and MANY that got listed as COVID that were not Covid deaths. We also lost a few relatives from complications of Covid related symptoms meaning their death can't be 100% contributed to Covid itself but was a contributing factor due to other underlying serious health issues they were already having when they contracted Covid. I know firsthand a number of deaths that had nothing to do with Covid but guess what? Covid got put on their death certificate.
