Beat Persona 5 last month and it was great! (gonna try the other Persona games soon.) Also started playing Like a Dragon and its been good so far!
Down for some JRPG recommendations if you guys have any :D Either old or new JRPGs
The mother/earthbound series is really fun, although the first game is kinda shit and aged horribly but the rest are great

the NieR series is pretty great especially if you're looking for good stories!
Scarlet Nexus while not having as deep or remarkable of a story, is an extremely fun game with a really cool gameplay
Voice of Cards is a turn based RPG trilogy all fantastic games with great stories, not much to say about them they're quite unique(and no they're not card games, it's just the aesthetic)
Scarlet Nexus looks fun! I also remember trying NieR but i think i dropped it quickly. I'll probably pick it up again tho
The .hack series deserves more love. There's a remaster of .hack//G.U. on PC, PS4 and Switch that's the best way to play that game and it usually goes on sale often for about 5-10 USD.
Maybe MySpace was all the friends we made along the way.

Nier, earthbound, since you're getting into persona I also recommend other megaten games, final fantasy X
If you enjoy turn based combat then youve gotta check out Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, it's got all the best parts of the genre with none of the bad, if just drops the J in JRPG by being made by a phenomenal team comprised of ex-Ubisoft employees who got tired of making slop
Jpgs are the best. Persona 5 was one of my first ones too. Based off of that you might like Soul Hackers 2, Catherine, and Metaphor Refantazio. I actually think they are all by Atlus too! ☺
If you liked Persona you should no doubt give SMT a go too! They're far more focused on the gameplay so it's a lot more in depth and incredibly fun. As much as I like Persona the dungeoncrawling/combat portion of its gameplay is basically watered down SMT. Many SMTs have unique settings and great stories as well. I recommend Strange Journey, SMTIV, and Devil Survivor. The two games you can get on Steam, SMTIII and SMTVV, have far less of a focus on the story than the others (but they're not bad games by any means)
Currently my favourite JRPG series is Tales of. These games' main strength lies in its characters rather than the plot(which tends to lean generic). In every new area and story beat you get to see the characters interact with eachother or react to the world and happenings around them via the optional skits. I honestly wish other JRPG series did something like that as well, as it just adds so much to fleshing out the character's dynamics and personalities. Of course some entries have incredible stories as well as characters (Tales of the Abyss). The gameplay is pretty good, with action combat that peaked with the 2D games but is still fun otherwise.
SMT looked interesting. I forget Persona is a spinoff of smt 😭 I'll also check out the Tales of games it looks cool!

SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI IV IS SO GOOD!!!! similar to persona in the dungeon crawling mechanics, and demon mechanics, (since persona is an smt spin off,) but no day/life sim so if that's a deal breaker i get it! sadly only on the 3ds so if you don't have a 3ds you gotta emulate it
parasite eve, the new york setting was originally planned for ffvii but they decided to change it to midgar, and then parasite eve was the result! it's a horror themed jrpg with lots of sci fi elements SO MUCH FUN. only on ps1 (to my knowledge) so you gotta emulate it, again sadly
ofc final fantasy vii is like one of the greats. the original is SO good, seriously. i love it. it's on steam for like $15 or smth
kingdom hearts series is so good!! idk what else needs to be said, i love it so much.
sword of mana, is a gba remake of the first mana game, and it's great!! i kind of feels a little like a top down zelda game mixed with a jrpg. pretty sure this is only on gba
while i haven't finished disgaea, it's a great tactical rpg with such a fun setting and THE CHARACTER DESIGN OH MY GOD. I LOVE IT!!! i feel it's a little grindy, but if you make sure to talk to everyone in the hub frequently you hopefully shouldn't have too much problems! i believe this is only on psp, ds, and ps2 but if you have a backward compatible ps3 you might be able to get it on there (if it's modded) otherwise emulation. i think the psp version is agreed to be the best from fans but i'd have to look

no like trust me on this you will LOVE Dragon Quest 11 like it's so peak!!! im close, but I'm not even done and im INLOVEE with it. you should definitely look into it!! (like spoiler free stuff ofc :'D)
